Yes I know - these interview uploads are VERY late given the FIM Motul WorldSBK UK round at Donington Park was well over a month ago, but hey, how's that old saying go - better late than never? Well, I'm cashing in my 'better late than never' chips ;)
The truth is that I've just had a chronic lack of time on my hands due to a combination of both work and home life factors (don't worry, nothing serious). These interviews require editing in audio software that I'm still learning as I go along, so it's not a two-minute job.
As we were attending Donington with 'Media' passes (thanks Michael Morel!), my cousin Kağan and I went to Donington Park under the impression that we would be able to capture these interviews on video. However, we soon found out that unless you are granted special permission by Dorna (the owners of WorldSBK), any video captured on site is actually strictly prohibited! And by 'on site' that means EVERYWHERE! Be it the track, the media centre, the paddock, the pits...
This took the wind out of our sails somewhat, although the one plus side was that we wouldn't lose any time faffing around with tripods, mic stands, cameras etc.
I interviewed Can on the Thursday which was TFT's inaugural interview! Not going to lie, I'm still chuffed with how it went. I originally planned to do the interview in Turkish, but Can seemed quite willing to speak in English so I just went along with it.
He was very candid and certainly gave some interesting opinions on certain matters relating to his career. He's a very forthright young man and doesn't pull any punches; in fact, he was turning the room blue at times with his colourful language and I was tempted to jokingly offer him a fresh bar of soap to wash his mouth out with lol!
We followed up our chat with Can the next day with an interview with Puccetti Team Owner Manuel Puccetti. He's obviously a completely different character to Can given the age gap between the two, but no less interesting and again, I was quite surprised at his level of candour at certain points of the interview...
For some reason, although Kağan took plenty of images of our interview with Manuel, it appears due to user error that the photos may have been deleted...
Obviously should we manage to locate these photos, we'll be uploading them to this page.
